Inventory Management Software
If the count in the warehouse doesn't match the number on screen, the problem isn't stock tracking — it's stock being cut off from sales and purchasing. In SmartERP, stock isn't a list on its own; it's a record that goes down the moment an invoice is issued, goes up the moment goods arrive, and shows you the difference when you count.
What is inventory management software?
Inventory management software keeps a record of the incoming and outgoing movements of a business's materials and products, their quantities per warehouse and their monetary value. It works together with sales and purchasing documents: when an invoice or delivery note is issued, stock moves on its own; when a count is done, the difference is reported; and the value of stock in the accounts is calculated using the method you choose.
How does it work?
Goods receipt
Goods are received against the purchase order and delivery note; quantity, unit cost and warehouse are posted to stock at the same time.
Movement and reservation
When a sales order is opened, the relevant quantity is reserved; what's on hand and what's available to sell don't get mixed up.
Issue and valuation
When goods are shipped, stock goes down and the cost is calculated using the method you chose (FIFO, LIFO or moving average) and posted to accounting.
Counting and adjustment
In a periodic count the actual quantity is entered and the system lists the differences; adjustments are made with an audit trail.
What's in the software?
Three valuation methods
FIFO, LIFO and moving average. The method you choose directly affects stock cost and therefore profit; it works consistently with the accounting side.
Low stock alert
A reorder point is set for each product. When the quantity drops to that level an alert appears; you don't hear "it's out" from a customer.
Multi-warehouse management
Multiple warehouses, transfers between them and quantities per warehouse. Where each item is, on one screen.
Reservation
Quantities tied to an order are set aside. No more promising the same goods to two customers.
Stock count and variance report
A count sheet is produced, the actual quantity is entered and the system reports surpluses and shortages. Adjustments stay on record.
Linked to sales and purchasing
Stock isn't a separate program; sales orders, purchase requests, invoices and accounting share the same database. No transfers, no matching, no overnight closing runs.
Who is it for?
Wholesale and distribution
With fast-moving stock across many items, reservations and low stock alerts do the real work.
Manufacturers
Raw material and semi-finished stock moves together with the work order and uses the same data as the production module.
Multi-branch businesses
Each branch sees its own warehouse, head office sees them all; transfers are on record.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between inventory management software and Excel?
In Excel, stock is correct as long as nobody forgets to enter something. In the software, every stock movement is tied to a document: it goes down when an invoice is issued and up when goods arrive. Cost calculation, reservations and count differences are also jobs you do by hand in Excel and that come out on their own in the software.
FIFO, LIFO or moving average — which should I choose?
All three are in the software. The choice depends on your accounting policy and the type of product; for products with an expiry date, FIFO is the natural fit. Make the decision with your accountant — whichever you choose, we calculate accordingly.
Does it work with a barcode scanner?
Barcodes are stored on the product card, and you can search with a scanner on the receipt and issue screens. Tell us the device model you'll use, and we'll tell you plainly whether it's compatible.
Can I see stock for several warehouses separately?
Yes. Quantities are held per warehouse, a transfer between warehouses is recorded as its own document, and its effect on both warehouses is visible immediately.
What happens if a stock count shows a difference?
The system lists surpluses and shortages item by item. The adjustment entry leaves a trail with the user and date, so you can check later who corrected what and when.
Do I need to enter anything separately in accounting?
No. Stock, sales, purchasing and accounting are parts of the same system; the financial side of each stock movement is created automatically.
Can I import my existing stock list?
Yes. Product cards and opening quantities are loaded from a file. Once we see the format of your data, we'll tell you how long the import will take.
Does it work with e-İrsaliye (the Turkish e-Waybill)?
It works together with the SmartERP e-Document module: the Turkish e-Waybill (e-İrsaliye) is generated in UBL-TR format and linked to the same document as the stock movement.
How much does inventory management software cost?
SmartERP modules aren't sold separately; pricing depends on the number of users and the type of setup. So there's no buying stock now and adding sales later — everything comes enabled.
