Station Automation Installation: Overview

Installing fuel station automation is a process that starts with a site survey and is completed by connecting the pump/tank hardware, defining the software parameters and integrating with EPDK (Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority). It can be applied both to a newly built station and to an existing one. We list the steps below.

Step 1 — Site Survey and Analysis of the Current Setup

The number and brand of pumps, the number and volume of tanks, the ÖKC (Turkish fiscal cash register) model, and the existing cabling and internet infrastructure are determined. This survey shows which modules and hardware are needed.

Step 2 — Hardware Installation

The pump automation (PX) is connected to the pump controllers; level/temperature probes (TX) are lowered into the tanks; the card reader, RS485-USB converter and automation cabinet are installed. All devices are connected to the site network (RS485 / TCP-IP).

Step 3 — System Parameters

Product types (diesel, gasoline, LPG, etc.), nozzle-tank mappings, attendant/staff cards, shift definitions and prices are entered in the software. This step is what makes the automation "know the station".

Step 4 — Testing and Reconciliation

Test fillings are carried out; it is verified that sales data flows correctly from the pump to the software, that the tank level drops in real time and that the sales-stock reconciliation matches. If there is a deviation, calibration is performed.

Step 5 — EPDK 1240 Integration

The station's EPDK licence information is defined; the automatic transmission of the Dep1/Dep2/Dr/K/Dat reports to the web service is tested.

Step 6 — Training and Commissioning

Station staff are trained in shift closing, reporting and use of the panel; the system goes live. 24/7 support and remote monitoring come into effect.

How Long Does Installation Take?

At a standard station, hardware installation and commissioning are usually completed within a few days; the time varies with the number of pumps/tanks and site conditions.
