Tank Automation System
See every movement in your underground fuel tanks within seconds. Electronic probes measure level, temperature, density and water in real time; stock, deliveries and alarms are monitored from a single dashboard.
What is tank automation?
Tank automation (ATG — automatic tank gauging) is a system that continuously measures level, temperature, density and water in underground fuel tanks with electronic probes. Stock is monitored live, leaks and theft are detected early, and deliveries and dispatches are logged automatically. Integrated with dispenser automation, it reconciles fuel sold against tank stock.
How does tank automation work?
Measurement with a probe
The electronic measuring rod (probe) placed in the tank measures level, temperature, density and water at one-second intervals.
Real-time inventory
Readings are transferred to the automation software; each tank's current stock, fill ratio and available delivery capacity are calculated.
Delivery and alarm tracking
Deliveries into the tank are detected automatically; high/low level, overfill, water and leak conditions are reported as alarms.
Reconciliation with dispenser automation
Fuel sold is compared with the actual stock in the tank; discrepancy, loss and manipulation become visible instantly.
Key capabilities
Real-time level and stock
Each tank's volume, fill ratio, temperature and water level in real time; available delivery capacity is calculated automatically.
Automatic delivery detection
Deliveries into the tank are detected automatically and logged with before/after inventory; sales during a delivery are included in the calculation.
Leak and theft detection
Fuel loss while no sale is running, pipework leaks and water ingress are detected and sent to the alarm centre.
Hardware compatibility
Compatible with different brands of tank, probe and radar sensors; a structure that can be redesigned as needed, offering zero-cost conversion.
Calibration
With 3D laser calibration, a calibration pump or an existing calibration chart, tank fuel is shown at true values by litres and density.
Integrated with dispenser automation
Tank and dispenser data work together; stock–sales reconciliation and precise delivery reports are gathered on a single dashboard.
Who is it for?
Fuel stations
Recording tank movements for stock control, leakage/loss prevention and EPDK notifications.
Storage and terminal facilities
Inventory management, delivery/discharge tracking and reconciliation at multi-tank facilities.
Fleet and corporate facilities
Stock and consumption control for businesses that fuel from their own tank.
Frequently asked questions
Are tank automation and ATG the same thing?
Yes. ATG (Automatic Tank Gauging) is the international name for tank automation; it means continuously measuring the level and content of a tank with electronic probes.
How does it detect a leak?
If the tank level drops, the water level rises or an unexpected movement occurs while there is no sale, the system reads this as a leak/theft and raises an alarm.
Does it work without dispenser automation?
Tank automation provides tank monitoring on its own; however, it delivers the greatest value when integrated with dispenser automation, because it can then reconcile fuel sold against tank stock.
Is it compatible with different brands of probe and tank?
Yes. ELPO tank automation is designed to work with different brands of tank, probe and radar sensors.
